I See Jesus In The Garden

albani-psalter_ausweisung_aus_dem_paradiesGenesis 3:8
And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool [afternoon breeze] of the day, so the man and his wife hid and kept themselves hidden from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. (Amplified Bible)

  1. First, just a note about how I feel about the phrase “[they] hid… from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden”; the trees, being representative of the grace of God, is so applicable to any one of us. In the case of an unbeliever, living precariously, without the justifying blood of Jesus Christ, no way of knowing when their soul will be required of them & compelled to stand before God – in that case being created and given the breath of life and then walking around with those gifts, with that grace just rejecting yet hiding among the blessings, among the trees of the garden… what a shame. Then there’s the believer, the person that hides in the grace of God knowing that it’s the ONLY thing that can save them. That’s me. I’m the believer that messes up, that picks the fruit, that chats with the serpent… only to receive the just consequences of such trespasses yet is saved and is made to stand ONLY by the grace of God.

  2. The other comment on this verse could be a controversial one to some people, but here it goes. The part about “the Lord God walking in the garden” is, we would ALL agree, an actual BEING walking, feeling the breeze, making a sound, in the garden. What we don’t agree on is if it is Jesus Christ, a Christophany as they say. Let me just say that this isn’t one of those verses from the Old Testament that refers to the angel of the Lord. No, this one says it’s the Lord God walking and talking on terra firma. So, the Hebrews would assert that this is actually Adonai. But us Christians believe that there is one God and that God is one, the Great I Am. So I have to assert that this was Jesus Christ, this was Adonai, this was the Lord God. And I’d like to say that it’s kinda frustrating that this IS a controversial subject among Christians. Jesus Christ is your God and the fullness of Deity dwells in Him, in bodily form, you believe there is ONE God. So why is it so offensive to a “Trinity” person? Why do they have to think I’m in the “Jesus Only” cult if I don’t think that you can separate the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Well I am not a “Jesus Only” person and Jesus Christ is my God.

    1. When I read the verse, I immediately just wanted to fall into the safety of the arms of My Lord God Jesus.I wanted to tear my garments off! I wanted to run out of the trees and across that clearing to meet Him, and to embrace Him!
