John 1:14
And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

  1. Well I have a very long personal study (which I will not be publishing here today) regarding the Word of God – the actual speech, command, audible creating spoken Word – the man, Jesus, the Word in the flesh – and the written canon, the Bible. It is the Bible to which I refer in the title of this post. Of course that’s ostensively Jesus to a certain extent, but I can’t reach out and touch with my finger and see the shape of Him with my eyes on the a daily basis… but I can hold the Word in my hands.
Lately, the Lord has shown me the incredible gift the Bible is… and by “shown me” I mean opened my heart to appreciate the eternal and PRESENT value of the Bible. The everyday existence of the written Word of God being available to us, at our fingertips, is, well, it’s something EXTRA for us, the generations since the 16th century.
When the author of Hebrews wrote that the word of God is LIVING and ACTIVE, there was no mass-produced access to even just the Old Testament. Even so, however much available, they could see that the written word of God was a very real way for God to communicate with us, to reach us, to have a relationship with us.
Last weekend we attended a funeral service and this coming weekend we have yet another funeral service to attend. In writing in my sympathy card to the family, I wrote simply to keep turning to Jesus in this difficult time… and what I wanted to somehow communicate is that these miraculous books, we call the Bible, are alive – the Bible will comfort you, teach you, talk to you, and this might be going too far but, the Bible could be your friend. The Bible is the Word of God. Jesus Christ is the Word of God. Jesus Christ is my God and He actively communicates with me through the Living Word.

    1. Amen Kimberly!!! Was thinking about you today hope you are doing well. The Bible truly is my friend. I have read in some countries the Bible is not allowed and that each person will trade off a page of the Bible back and forth, they cherish God’s Word so much. It is living and powerful and my daily bread without it daily my soul suffers and I truly feel malnourished without it.
