  1. There’s a lot of really good commentaries about this verse by which I was very blessed, so I encourage anyone with the time to read some of it. But my thought about this verse is regarding that other tree. The one in the garden that was lumped in with the statement, “We may eat of the fruit of THE TREES of the garden”. It’s obvious that an issue with the desires of Adam’s and Eve’s hearts. The tree that provided fulfillment and eternal life was not their desire.

  2. This one also reminds me of that saying – some people are so heavenly minded that they’re no earthly good. I think the intent of the person that coined the phrase meant it to be a commentary about Calvinist-types… the existentialist believer… like it’s planned out by God already so our decisions don’t matter.
Well there’s us other “so heavenly minded” people that are heart-sick for that hope of heaven. We get so future-minded that we get depressed about still being here in the present. But for me I think Christianity, as a practice, is more and more about really knowing that I have heaven in my heart… fulfillment of that longing for Jesus, for the Tree of Life, is realized more and more as He transforms my desires.
