Romans 8:11

serveimage-1And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.

  1. The part about “[God] will also give life to your mortal bodies” is what has caught my attention with this verse. I think he’s talking about the resurrection of our physical bodies, transforming our bodies into eternal/alive bodies. But what it’s making me think is, “What, I thought I had life, I thought my body was alive already, is this death?”
So looking at the context I can see that Paul has set up a choice between the flesh or the Spirit. So either the mortal hostile flesh is going to win… or the eternal Spirit of Christ is going to win. And I think he’s saying that we have to be aware of this struggle for our mortal time on Earth, because if we are not aware of this fight, then most likely the flesh will win our minds… and therefore our lives, our actions, our worship.
Now back to my question… am I dead? I think Paul is saying that it would be the way to go to gain some of that eternal life… here on Earth… now. Go with the Spirit and we’ll really live.
