The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

  1. This week, of course, I am studying the birth of my Lord, Jesus Christ. So I would like to first say that believers who avoid the holiday altogether are certainly within their rights as human beings. However, those individuals will do well to remember the liberty encouraged for each of us to choose how we will worship in truth. In Colossians 2, God continues to draw us all as individuals toward true worship and a relationship with Him in TRUTH. So if you are celebrating Christmas as an opportunity to, by tradition, enjoy time with your family… amen! If the celebration of Christmas is a time to remember that, as it says in this week’s verse, the Word became flesh… amen! Don’t let anyone put burdens of false humility, as Paul writes in Colossians 2:21, ““Do not handle! Do not taste! Do not touch!”?” He says to not submit to their rules. But why? Why not “honor” God within the structure of what they think pleases God? The reason to NOT just follow some rules is so you can act upon the truth. However the Lord has taught you so far, act upon that… otherwise it’s just all empty false humility. So happy Christmas to you… or not 🙂

    1. Hey that’s an interesting contrasting “new covenant” verse to Genesis 3:3 where Eve embellishes the command to not eat the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil… she says that they must not even touch the fruit. And then where does Eve end up? In a bunch of trouble right. Well what it boils down to is that even though a parent may love their children and give them every good thing, including wise advise and commands, children don’t know their parent yet… a child doesn’t trust their parent until the child gets hurt by what the parent told the child would hurt them. Then Eve says to herself, “Oh, God was right about that fruit… I’m gonna trust and rely upon Him from now on… theoretically.

      1. John 6:27 “……for on Him the Father, God has set His seal.” Another cool reference to Jesus the word. A letter for the world to receive, in the flesh.

  2. Christ, the substance! Col 2:17 It is for freedom Christ has set us free! Gal 5:1 What is a decree? An order. Our track record shows, it would be wise to accept His grace, and be simply devoted unto Jesus. 2 Cor 11:3-4
